Dance Impressions of Saint (St.) Michael, Minnesota is a premier, student centered and award winning performing arts organization that trains students in a triple threat of dance, acting, and singing. Our goal is to develop the best in each individual performer through a combination of technical training, artistry and life lessons. Our philosophy is to inspire our students greatest potential using a developmentally appropriate curriculum combined with unique and creative professional opportunities.

Our dance program is based on the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus with Vaganova and American influences. Our jazz, modern, lyrical and tap program is based on classic techniques with contemporary and world influences. Our acting and singing program utilizes story telling, confidence building and technical training to bring out the best inherent performer in each student. It is influenced by classic, Broadway, and contemporary techniques for stage and film based on work from Robbins, Stanislavski, the Method, etc. We have three educational tracks:

Performance Company C. This is our recreational/educational program for those who want solid dance training combined with flexibility and less commitment. Unlike most recreational programs, we offer more technical training in dance, acting, and singing with a holiday show and spring showcase performances.

Performance Company B. This is our competitive program. It is designed for a higher lever of training in dance, acting, and singing with a wide variety of opportunities including workshops, competitions, holiday shows, and spring showcases.

Performance Company A. This is our advanced or elite pre-professional and professional training program. This is for the serious performer who wants the best in dance, acting, and singing training. It includes multiple workshops including traveling workshops, a limited number of competitions, our holiday show, our spring showcase, and a special elite showcase. Dance training will focus on ballet, Pointe and modern.

Our education offerings also include individual and small group lessons, in and out of studio workshops, and excursions to premier performances. We offer additional open tech classes in ballet, jazz, tap, acting, and singing. Many of our teachers are certified and/or licensed or in certification programs. Our staff has long resumes, professional experience, awards and degrees in dance, music, acting, art etc. Our teachers strive to keep up with new information in the performing arts through workshops and continuing education certification programs.

Finally, in order to become a whole dancer, one must learn many life lessons such as respect, hard work, and honesty. These are a few of the principles that guide our program.
